Campus

Tucked away from major roadways, MSK sits on thirteen acres of forestry that overlooks the Humber River — and it brings us great joy that we were able to share this beautiful space with our community. As we are surrounded by natural wildlife, each season brings a new masterpiece – from the explosion of colour in the fall foliage to the fresh buds and new life that visit us each spring, we know that MSK is a special place. And, upon visiting our school, you too will appreciate the scenic, serene and safe environment that we offer to our students.

MSK Indigenous Pledge

MSK sits on the land of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe and the Mississaugas of the Credit people and we are grateful to them for taking care of this land and sharing it with us.

PRIOR TO MSK THERE WAS “HARRABY FARM"

Harraby Farm was built in 1925 and was a beautiful Colonial-style home nestled in a plateau overlooking the Humber River. Gordon and Dorothy “Torchy” MacEachern purchased it in late 1949.

The MacEacherns were looking for a home that was far away from an ever-expanding Toronto. The hills you see today were spotted with their flock of sheep and the lower field was used as a market garden. The natural wildlife was left alone for their children to explore during all seasons – the Humber River served as the local swimming hole in the summer and a skating rink in the winter. It also offered some fabulous fish such as Chub, Perch, and Trout for Gordon’s breakfast.

Apart from the beauty of the gardens, one of Torchy’s biggest interests was education. In the late 1940’s she was a Trustee for the North York School Board representing York Mills. She gave up her seat on the Board when she moved to Kleinburg but her interest in education remained. Shortly after she moved here, she co-founded the Kleinburg Parent Teachers Association together with Mrs. Purvis, wife of the local butcher and Ms. Rose Rice, the principal and teacher of grades one to four. Kleinburg, in those days, had a two room school house which housed grades one to four in one room, and five to eight in the other.

Torchy would be absolutely thrilled to know that her beloved “Harraby” is now a premier Montessori school offering academic excellence and enrichment.
